Domus Aleria

Domus Aleria is much more than a vacation solution in Sciacca. It is the telling of a story that smells of tradition.

Aleria, in fact, was the name by which everyone knew Grandma Nina, the town’s municipal midwife. And what is now an accommodation facility was once his home.

The common thread between past and present is love, once enveloping the lady, now of owners Ignazio and Simone, the couple who decided to bring this project to life.

The accommodation consists of five rooms, each different in style, representing as many personalities inspired by the women they are named after: Vittoria, Eugenia, Pasqualina, Nina and Lidia.

Inside the four walls, contemporary style is blended to perfection with authentic elements. Starting with the perfectly preserved floor tiles, which express warm and colorful sensations in amber yellow and rust red tones. Chromes that then influence the hues of both bed frames and bathrooms.

Going into more detail, pre-existing furnishings, after restoration, such as chairs, curtains and ceramics (so-called “good service”) were used to furnish the rooms, along with others made from salvaged items. All of this, side by side with modern design pieces that are in perfect harmony with the context.

Bathrooms, on the other hand, feature unobtrusive materials, such as glass and plasterboard (the latter, also defines exposed cabinets and bar corners).

The property is located on the second floor of a historic downtown building in the twentieth-century style: high ceilings, typical Art Nouveau stained-glass windows, and cement tiles to walk on.

In the background is Sciacca, with its hubbub typical of a southern land facing the Mediterranean.
