The municipality represents a unique example of the spread of Art Nouveau style in the early 1900s, the most representative example of which is the small palace on Via Vittorio Emanuele, 251. We will visit the urban layout full of facades in the eclectic-Baroque style. In the beautiful old town, 19th-century churches, the crypt of the Church of the Holy Souls, and the original urban core with the first village church stand out. The tour of the City Museum TEMPO, With its three sections:
– The section devoted to textiles exhibits precious artifacts, the result of the industriousness of the women of the people, makers of such treasures as a cutra ammurgata and ‘a frazzata, blankets made on the loom, and now presented as a cultural asset of Iblean peasant life.
– The section on Emigration is the result of a research center of the migration phenomenon. A visit to the museum becomes important precisely today, at a time when emigration makes our island, a landfall for peoples with different cultures.
– The folk medicine section is unique in that it offers the recipes and remedies of the aromatizers and apothecaries who in ancient times cured diseases using the active ingredients of the medicinal plants of the Iblei.
