The city of Floridia, which arose with the
licentia populandi
granted in 1627 by King Philip IV of Sicily to Baron Don Lucio Bonanno Colonna, Duke of Montalbano, after the earthquake, it endowed itself between the 1700s and 1800s with a historic center defined by the presence of the dedicated Mother Church and the Municipal Palace, which divide the wide and bright Umberto I and del Popolo squares. The Churches of St. Anne, Carmel and St. Anthony are also beautiful. On display in the Mother Church is a large painting attributed to Crestadoro, which depicts St. Eligius and the miracle of the healed horse, donation from the farrier and blacksmith guild testifying to the importance of the horse within the local economy and popular culture. A visit to the N. Bruno Ethnographic Museum, established by the Municipality of Floridia through the efforts of its founder, pays tribute to these talented artisans; will introduce us to the traditions of this hard-working community with the display of all the tools useful for the trades related to the farming civilization; but the protagonist is the so-called cart-maker’s workshop that documents all the steps in the construction of a cart. To be admired, the works in painting and miniatures from the ancient workshops of Master Nunzio Bruno, as well as some valuable carts.

The workshops of the user’s choice, upon agreement with the expert, are 6 hours in length:

Friday

6 p.m.,00 -Arrival of participants in Floridia

8:30 pm – Dinner in a typical restaurant with tasting of typical products

Overnight stay at B&B

Saturday

9:30 a.m. – Tour of the historic center and a museum

1:30 p.m. – Lunch at a restaurant or farmhouse

4:00 p.m./7:00 p.m. – Educational workshop 1 part

8:30 p.m. – Dinner

Sunday

9 a.m./12,00 – Educational workshop 2 part

Closing of the course – certificate of attendance and greeting

The fee includes: The course, museum admission, two dinners and one lunch and two nights’ accommodation per person €275.00 + vat
