“The Dream Machine”: Dante in Palermo.
“The Dream Machine” returns to Palermo, with its 38th edition, directed by Mimmo Cuticchio. This year, the theater festival is entirely dedicated to Dante Alighieri, 700 years after his death.
The review revives the themes of the first canticle of the Divine Comedy, with a very current slant. The ills of society in the past compared with those of today through the values, which remain universal, of freedom, love and justice. This influence is what the director was inspired to give the title of the Festival: On the Paths of Hell.
Specifically, from Oct. 21 to Oct. 31, theater, music and workshop performances will take place in three Palermo locations: at the Antonino Salinas Regional Archaeological Museum, the Real Teatro Santa Cecilia and the Laboratorio Teatrale on Via Bara all’Olivella.
The Dream Machine is organized with the support of the regional departments of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, the Sicily Foundation and the Ministry of Culture.
The Festival Program
Within the program, the 3rd, 9th and multiples, as in the Divine Comedy, return. For example, it runs in three parts, like the canticles of the poem, and there are three figure theater performances, as many reruns, equal numbers of workshops for young actors.
