Villa of Monsters opens its doors at night
A tour that has been very successful so far. These are the evening visits to Villa Palagonia in Bagheria, otherwise known as Villa of Monsters. The building owes its nickname to the creepy and deformed statues that surround it and greet travelers from the entrance. At one time there were about 200; today 62 can be counted.
The mansion on built in 1715 by Ferdinand Francis I Gravina Cruyllas, prince of Palagonia, and over the years attracted the attention of a variety of famous and distinguished figures, including Goethe, Salvador Dali and Renato Guttuso.
On Saturday, February 5, starting at 5:20 p.m., it will again be possible to visit this fascinating and mysterious place, thanks to the Terradamare cooperative. The group will take participants to discover the artistic heritage of the Villa, such as the monumental double-ramp staircase made of Billiemi marble, or even the ‘Hall of Mirrors.’
An opportunity not to be missed.
