“Books and Sunsets” in Scopello.
From July to August a literary review will affect Western Sicily. “Books and Sunsets” are six meetings, all with free admission, that enliven the “King Ferdinand” rock park in Scopello.
Scheduled appointments are from 6 p.m. on the following dates: July 6, 15, 22, 29 and August 5, 19, 2022. The events are curated by Ernesto Melluso and readers group Fraginesi, Conza and Scopello coordinated by Marzia Furnari with the collaboration of Professor Tullio Sirchia and the patronage of the municipality.
PROGRAM DETAILS OF THE NEXT FOUR MEETINGS*
July 22: Costanza DiQuattro’s novel “Giuditta e il Monsù” Baldini & Castoldi editions. The tale of “an impossible love in a Sicily burned by heat and passions” which Costanza DiQuattro will discuss with journalist Mario Azzolini.
July 29: “July Lights” by Gian Mauro Costa, published by Mondadori. Discussing the novel set in 1960s Palermo will be Professor Ernesto Melluso, curator of the literary review.
Aug. 5: “Trema la notte” by Nadia Terranova edizioni Einaudi. Corrado Melluso will discuss with the writer the novel set in 1908, when the most devastating earthquake ever in Europe leveled Messina and Reggio Calabria.
Aug. 19: “The Mandarins of Ciaculli,” Zolfo Editions, by Roberto Tagliavia. The tale of a heritage taken hostage by the Mafia which Roberto Tagliavia will discuss with journalist Tiziana Martorana.
