Among the great seasonal festivals related to the cycle of nature, the one that has remained most unchanged over time is the patronal festival of Palazzolo, which remains today a must-see for discovering Sicilian traditions. Religious belief, great fideistic devotion, and popular participation in the festival as a collective rite make it a true Sicilian gem.
Although the festivities will officially get underway on the evening of June 28, it will be in the late afternoon of the 29th that it will get into full swing with the gala tour from St. Paul’s Basilica.
Bands, flag-wavers with historical picket on horseback can be seen roaming the streets of the town in anticipation of “a sciuta ra cammira,” the unveiling of the highly venerated statue of St. Paul!
