Andy Warhol and Banksy compared in Catania
A unique and exclusive event: the Andy Warhol-Banksy Exhibition can be visited from November 20 until June 2, 2022 inside the Palazzo della Cultura in Catania. Here, you will have the opportunity to compare two of the greatest known artists of the past 50 years, their works and styles.
From the famous wall with the Little Girl with the Hula Hoop, to the painting of Kate Moss, Lincoln, Winston Churchill to Bansky’s anonymous and arrest-threatening Queen Elizabeth from Disneyland to Palestine. His art is a real media event. But also Self Portrait from 1967, portraits of Mao and Lenin, of Mick Jagger, Billy Squier and Judy Garland, done by Warhol, an artist whose works have become a veritable consumer product and his name a brand. All in all, a total of more than 100 works.
Brilliant, creative and stirring figures, if different. “In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes,” Warhol asserted, and Banksy responds instead, “Everyone in life will have 15 minutes of anonymity.”
The exhibition is produced and organized by Massimo Costantino and Marco Ugo Grimaldi’s E-VENTI and curated by Sabina de Gregori and Giuseppe Stagnitta, and is sponsored by the Cultural Department of the City of Catania.
The exhibition can be visited daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased here.
