A day for Sebastiano Tusa: free admission to Segesta Park

A rendezvous with history for the curious and archaeology enthusiasts. On March 10, on the occasion of the“Day of Sicilian Cultural Heritage” established in memory of Sebastiano Tusa, it will be possible to enter the Segesta Archaeological Park free of charge. On our website, in the blog section, you can see an in-depth article inherent to the Park, its origins and how to get there (link here).

In addition, at 10 a.m. also on Thursday, March 10, the conference “The Story We Tell is Already the Future” will be aired on the Segesta Archaeological Park Facebook page.

Visitors will have the choice of walking through the park’s paths independently, delving into the timeless beauty of Segesta, or participating in a guided tour with CoopCulture operators, entitled “From the Elymians to the Middle Ages.” In case you opt for the guided tour, a contribution of 13 euros will be required, 7 if reduced . The latter will also be replicated on March 13.

What stops does the guided tour include?

The tour will allow visitors to admire the magnificence of an ancient Elymian city, a population said to be descended from the Trojans, constantly in conflict with the Greek city Selinunte. It will also be possible to observe the Theater,Agora, Doric Temple, and Antiquarium in a facilitated way thanks to transportation within the park.

In fact, if the Doric Temple, thought to be unfinished and an expression of a process of Hellenization, which stands out alone on top of a small hill, can be reached on foot, the Northern Acropolis, where the Theater is located, will be approached by shuttle bus.

Next we will move to the city wall in the section of Porta di Valle, to catch a more in-depth glimpse of the organization of the original city of Segesta. Last but not least, we will visit the Antiquarium, with the permanent exhibition “The Faces of the Sacred in Segesta Elyma: Spaces, Rituals, Objects,” opened in 2021.

For info and reservations visit the CoopCulture website.
