In Palermo, “September at Riso”: theater, music and meetings in the museum’s agora

“September at Rice” enlivens Palermo throughout the current month, until early October, for the second year. Many theatrical and musical performances and as many encounters, for a varied review composed of many voices related to Sicily. Not surprisingly, the common thread of the event isisland identity, in all its forms. Therefore, “Settembre al Riso” stands as an excellent opportunity to spread culture, through theater and music, but also to preserve and promote local Sicilian traditions.

Performances begin at 9 p.m., except for some morning and afternoon dates, in the courtyard of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art overlooking the Cassaro in Palermo. The organization was sponsored by theRegional Department of Cultural Heritage, in collaboration with the Riso Museum.

Theater and music: what to expect

The first two days featured a performance of“Sicilia Restart,” which was attended by many cultural artisans to talk about issues related to restart. Then the theater, musical performances and other meetings began to follow.

Specifically, the program is very dense with theater: from Salvatore Guglielmino’s “Oedipus the King,” to Salvo Piparo and Egle Mazzamuto’s “Aedi,” Gigi Borruso’s “Requiem in Two Voices,” to Teatro Atlante’s “The Zen Guide,” and much more.

As far as music is concerned, the landscape is very broad. From folk songs and myths with Laura Mollica, to folk songs by the group Arbarìa, to the experimental sounds of Miriam Palma. But also to Baroque sounds, storytellers, jazz notes, and even Opera.
