Women’s Day in Messina
March 8 must be one more opportunity and not the only one to value women, alongside the other days of the year. For Women’s Day 2022, among the many events organized in Sicily, many involve the city of Messina.
In fact, from morning to evening there will be meetings, including in bookstores, exhibitions and film reviews to retrace important moments since the establishment of the “United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.”
MEETINGS
–Women’s resistance for peace against wars. In the Church of Santa Maria Alemanna, starting at 10 a.m., several themed talks will take place, including a remembrance of partisan Eliana Giorgi during which the artist NoNeptune with the Fox Collective will bring to life a real-time work inspired by the story. Photographs of women who have made history will also be on display.
-March batch. At the Colapesce bookstore, from 4:30 p.m., there will be an assembly to dialogue about discrimination, the gender gap and violence.
EXHIBIT
–“Mother Archaic. Starting at 5 p.m., the Messina Regional Library will host an exhibition by Xante Battaglia where the many facets of women emerge. From the next day, it will be possible to visit the exhibition until March 22, from 10 a.m. to noon.
CINEMA
– “Cinema celebrates women. The Fasola Auditorium, from 8 p.m., will feature themed performances and screenings.
LIBRARY
Finally, at the City Library, a book will be given away to all women, girls and children who make the free card.
In short, a busy day with a series of important appointments, absolutely not to be missed!
