Music for Peace in Palermo
At the Sanlorenzo Mercato in Palermo, a concert dedicated to Ukraine will be held on Sunday, March 20, from 12 to 5 p.m. So, music once again stands as a very strong form of communication and a language of peace.
Throughout the day, various musicians, composers, artists, authors and performers will perform together for the first time, performing both setlist pieces and live improvisations.
Here is a list of the names that will tread the stage for a good cause: Vincenza Ferraro and the Radioflores, the Three Thirds, the Qu4ttro that is Manfredi Tumminello, Claudio Terzo, Umberto Porcaro and Ferdinando Moncada, and Manuel Bellone. Also, Peppe Lana, Marcello Mandreucci, Jerusa, Gioacchino Cottone, Dj Kote Giacalone, Davide Molino, Lino Costa, Riccardo Simoncelli, the Gelardi al Limone, and some of the kids from the “Hi Mom, I’m playing at the Market today” workshop.
Many of the songs performed will be war and peace themed, such as John Lennon’s iconic “Imagine,” or U2’s “Miss Sarajevo.” Five hours of music of all genres, from jazz, blues, reggae, electronic, and Italian songwriting. Orchestral and acoustic pieces.
In addition, there will be a fundraiser for the occasion: at an ad hoc 24 Baroni beer station, people will be able to make a contribution by purchasing a draft goblet. Proceeds will be donated to the Italian Red Cross to provide support for the Ukrainian population. In addition, an area will also be set up for the collection of new over-the-counter drugs (tachypirin and other antipyretics, band-aids, gauze, disinfectants, absorbent cotton, syringes and more), an initiative that is part of the Giorgio La Pira Cooperativa Sociale Onlus’ “Let’s Collect Solidarity” project, in collaboration with the Order of Pharmacists of the Province of Palermo.
