“As healthy as a fish,” Feast of the catch in Palermo.

“As healthy as a fish,” a very common saying in the Italian language, finds its origin in ancient times, when fish were believed to be immune to all diseases.

But it is also the name of the festival held from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 on Palermo’s Cala pier. It was created with the aim of promoting high quality catch and the work done by artisanal fishermen working in the rich Sicilian sea.

The event is sponsored by the ERI, European Research Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating communication and environmental protection, social inclusion and research.
