Music and workshops at Sanlorenzo Market

Three days of live music, children’s workshops and entertainment at Sanlorenzo Mercato in Palermo. The last weekend of October comes alive with an extensive program of activities for young and old. In particular, Oct. 29-31 will feature an evening with Vasco Rossi cover band Colpa d’Alfredo band. Then, the workshop “A scuola di martorana,” in honor of the Sicilian tradition, and will close with the Queen in disguise evening with the Good Company.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29 – Gupa d’Alfredo band

Starting at 9:30 p.m., the entire evening dedicated to Vasco Rossi will begin. The cover band Colpa d’Alfredo is composed of: Ivano Ivaskrello Blasco (vocals), Giuseppe Di Blasi (guitar), Davide Consales (guitar), Teddy Schifano (drums), Giuseppe Diliberto (bass), Fulvio Signorino (keyboards and backing vocals).

In addition, the band is the only Sicilian band recognized by Vasco and will retrace a musical journey through all his greatest hits, from his origins to the present day.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30 – At School of Martorana

Starting at 5:30 p.m., the Market turns into a full-fledged pastry workshop. The undisputed star will be the martorana, and under the guidance of the Ambarabà association, people will be able to dabble in kneading cakes of various shapes, even freehand.

The activity is open to toddlers, (ages 4 and up) but also to adults, who can then take what they have made with them.

The workshop is guaranteed with the attendance of at least 5 participants up to a maximum of 15. The cost is 10 euros and includes all the creations made by participants during the initiative. A green pass must be shown for accompanying persons.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31 – Good Company

The three-day event closes with Halloween night and a performance by Palermo’s historic Queen Tribute Band. The public is invited to come in costume to make it more fun.

The live show, through more than two hours of music, traces the most significant stages of the British band, from the 1970s to the latest hits. Alongside the big hits, famous covers such as “Somebody to Love,” “We Will Rock You,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” will be offered, as well as famous and rarely played live pieces, including “Headlong,” “The Invisible man,” “Innuendo,” “Flash,” “The Miracle,” and “Need Your Loving Tonight,” to name a few.

The group was formed in 2007 by Gianni Varrica, on piano, and Sergio Algozzino, on vocals. The two soon involve bassist Massimo Provenzano in the band. After some changes, in 2013 the group settled on a permanent lineup with Carmelo Mandalà on guitar, Samuele Mollisi on drums, and Simone Rosselli on vocals.
