Kite festival in San Vito Lo Capo
The sky above San Vito Lo Capo is once again filled with color. The 12th International Kite Festival is scheduled from May 23 to 29, conceived in 2009 by Ignatius Billera and organized by the municipality in collaboration with the Feedback agency.
The flying creations come from different regions of Italy, but also from the Canary Islands and Holland. Every day, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., you can admire the twirling of these works of art in “free ride” mode. Participants include: Palermo’s Davide Equizzi, world champion in 2014 for the tricks battle category, Bologna athlete Giovanni Govoni performing in multiple acrobatic flight, and Umbria’s Gianni Angelini, who will send his latest creation, the “fox,” into the sky for the first time. But one of the most magical moments is scheduled for Saturday, May 28, with the night flight of kites at 9 p.m. Such as the special flight to commemorate the Capaci massacre on May 23, the 30th anniversary of which marks this year.
But not only kites. In fact, in addition to the free-flight displays, the festival includes a week of workshops for children, including a treasure hunt from Thursday to Sunday, entertainment, shows and tastings. Below is a list of some attractions:
– Street food point for lunch and dinner every day
– the wind fair with the best traditional savory and sweet products
– on weekends, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., it will be possible to participate in free kitesurfing lessons by the Stagnone Sport Tourism Association
– also on the weekend, Santa Margherita Bay is transformed into a temporary airstrip for sport aircraft with the Fly-Inn: permanent exhibition of historic two-seater aircraft + flight demonstrations
