Kicking off “The Cry of Volcanoes” exhibition: from Dec. 9 to 11, Giuliano Macca in Rome

Painter Giuliano Macca, @nongiuraresudio on Instagram, returns after nearly a year with an exhibition that promises to take your breath away. In September 2020 he had exhibited in Florence The Loneliness of Angels, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi, which had closed in December of that year with an installation of a embrace of 1200sqm On tramping paper, unrolled from the top of the Cassero Tower. The work became of media importance.

This year, from the Dec. 9 to 11 from 6 to 10 p.m., there will be the inauguration of his third solo exhibition, at the Rome contemporary art gallery, precisely in the Capital: The cry of volcanoes. Here, in 2019, he had already been very successful with his Crystal hearts. A perfect material as a metaphor for the precariousness of the soul, always somewhere between its solid structure and the ease with which it falls apart.

As he says up on the Instagram post, this “is the most sanguine exhibition I have ever done, inside is passion, sea, lava, loves lost, found and dreams that can be lived.” The texts were edited by the director and screenwriter. Ferzan Özpetek, another element that heralds an event sure to be emotionally charged.

It will be possible to observe and immerse oneself in his works until Feb. 5, 2022. Official sponsor of the event is the Moncada Group, an Ispica-based company that is a leader in the distribution of local fruit and vegetable produce internationally.

Discovering the artist

Giuliano was born in Noto in 1988, but soon moved to Modica and at age 20 to Rome. From there his travels began, sometimes taking him back to Sicily, sometimes back to Rome, to Barcelona, a city rich in important artistic influences. Then to return to Italy.

Within his works he brings the character of his homeland, with the sea as a side dish. Through his creations he touches on important themes such as the rawness of human existence, the value of time, and therestlessness and fragility of the spirit. Topics imbued with authenticity and extremely topical, with which people of different generations can identify.

A Sicilian artist who represents international excellence and, his exhibition, an opportunity to enjoy art in the true sense of the word. But also to confront one’s inner self.
