Taormina Film Fest

Sixty-eighth Taormina Film Fest: great cinema on stage at Taormina’s Teatro Anticofrom June 26 through July 2.

Sunday evening opened with “The Godfather” in a restored version in the presence of Francis Ford Coppola. But the artistic journey interspersed theatrical performances, skits, performances, musical interludes, as well as sports, with the world premiere of Italy 1982, a blue story. And it will conclude on Saturday July 2 with Ennio, in the presence of Oscar winner Giuseppe Tornatore, a splendid tribute to the most prolific and beloved Italian composer in the world.

Among the titles and performances: the action thriller, based on a true story, “American Murderer” by New York director Matthew Gentile, the British “Boiling Point” by actor Philip Barantini in his directorial debut. “Baby Pyramid,” Danish director Cecilie McNair’s debut film, “The Drover’s Wife the legend of Molly Johnson,” written, directed and starring Leah Purcel, an Australian of Aboriginal descent.

Italians, “Le voci sole” by Andrea Brusa and Marco Scotuzzi with Giovanni Storti, “Io e Spotty,” second film by Cosimo Gomez with Filippo Scotti. Then, too, the premiere of “My Shadow is Yours,” the world premiere of Minions 2 – How Crane Gets Bad by Kyle Balda, and much more.

On Saturday there will be a closing ceremony with the announcement of the winners and the presentation of the Golden and Silver Charybdis, an event definitely not to be missed!
