Itineraries of identity: Iblei Museum Network System
The Iblei Museum Network System organizes “Identity Itineraries: the territory, monumental heritage and museums of the Iblei Ecomuseum,” in collaboration with the Region of Sicily. Tours of cultural and historical interest will be held every weekend from November 14 until December 5, according to different routes.
The Identity Routes program
The first day was held on Nov. 14, in which the Pantalica woods were explored according to the “History and Nature” tour. Instead, on Sunday, Nov. 21 , the appointment doubled with “Liberty and Symphonies,” a tour among the cultural heritage of Canicattini Bagni, and“The Most Ancient Forest of the Iblei,” in Baulì.
The appointments continue on Nov. 28 with three proposed routes. The first, “Land of Dukes”, which leads to the discovery of the beauty of Floridia. The second, “Sacredness and Nature.”, which transports visitors between Cassaro and Ferla. Finally, from 9 a.m. “The Source of Myth,” at the Ciane R.N.O. – Saline.
Last weekend activities are planned for both Saturday and Sunday. In particular, on December 4, it will be possible to participate in the tour ”Baroque and Nature” that will allow everyone to immerse themselves in the magic of the Bosco di Santa Maria in Buccheri and then, later, visit the village itself, including monuments and museums.
Finally, the meetings will end on Dec. 5 with a full day of events. “Honey, puppets, carts and Sortino Diruta”
will give the opportunity to learn about Sortino and its traditional fulcrums in depth and to complete the experience with a ceramic decoration workshop, organized by La Faience Artistic Laboratory. Alternatively, one can opt instead for “Palazzolo, Tradition and Culture,” a journey through the noble origins of the town itself and its main cultural nodes.

The association Iblei Museum Network System was formed in November 2016 by the most significant ethnographic museums in the province of Syracuse, with the support of the municipalities of Canicattini Bagni, Floridia and Sortino, the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage of Syracuse, and the Development Agency of the Iblei – Gal Val d’Anapo. The Iblei Museum Network strives to foster the coordinated performance of functions and services concerning the implementation, promotion and enhancement of culture in its member museum facilities, falling within theIblei area in southeastern Sicily.
It is also part of the Magna Sicilia network with which it shares the values of authenticity and quality and promotes Sicilian tradition, in an innovative way.
